Would it be possible to have a setting to publish the next 3 or 4 events in a repeating schedule as event posts, for users to react to in advance? Perhaps a simple number, or a time limit (current month, next 4 weeks?). This could tie in with the ability to modify future events to edit or cancel specific repeats too.
I want to say that I've had to use https://tabletoptime.us/ (a self-hosted version) in conjunction with sesh.fyi to get my process for scheduling working. https://tabletoptime.us/ to figure out what days everyone can meet in a month, then I use Sesh on the specific dates everyone can get together if X+ people can make it. I would like this to all be in Sesh. The ability to put out multiple dates, and then set the ones that X+ people can attend as RSVP-able. "I'm available on these 12 days this month for this event.. please also mark if you are available". I would set all my available dates as the GM for a specific game/event/series, and then players can sign up for the dates that work for them, with 3+ people being available on a certain date making it joinable by up to 6 people... or whatever limits I want.
